a 2 player letter-writing game about vampires dealing with being turned and finding community despite the circumstances. you create a mini deck of cards that determine the events you write about in your letters, which span the centuries. the game plans for 12 letters to be exchanged (13 for the person who starts the game), the first being sent in the 17th century, and the last in the modern era. each player rolls for their vampires characteristics and starting location, and through the letters you collaboratively build the world your charecters live in.
okay, listen. my vampire obsession is coming back, not quite full force but still pretty strong, and i absoloutely blame my friend who convinced me to watch the interview with the vampire tv show (not that it took much convincing)
even without the return of that obsession i think i would be infatuated with this rpg. i literally haven't stopped thinking about it since i first read it a couple of weeks ago. it's well planned out, the prompts are fantastic, and just reading through the pamphlet gave me so many ideas. maybe part of the infatuation also has to do with my generally romanticised view of letter writing, especially in the modern era where nearly all communication is instantaneous... or maybe i just miss having penpals lol.
i think i might be able to convince a friend to play this with me, though we're going to figure out some way to play it online... i'm thinking over email.
also, i feel like it would be fun to play a run of this with stylized communication... so the 17th century letters are formatted and have the spelling of extant letters of that era, and so on. maybe include a fax and an early email in place of letters for some of the 20th century entries?
i can smell the coffee stained paper already xD maybe one day!
if my friend and i do end up playing, i might post my first letter here. i know i love seeing examples of games like this.
